TEEOGLB Chapter 41 Uh-oh, Twisted My Ankle!
"Now's the time, run!"
Wang Dali grabbed the stunned Xiumei and dashed into the nearby dense forest.
"Oppa, what's going on? Why are the natives trying to save us?" Xiumei took a deep breath, bewildered.
"They're not specifically trying to save us, they're just fighting back against the giant apes!" Wang Dali laughed heartily, feeling exhilarated. He figured this was all a consequence of the trouble caused by the giant apes during their last rampage through the native village.
Back then, the giant apes had thoroughly angered the natives, leading them to launch a relentless counterattack against the apes.
It was just bad luck for the apes that they were besieged by the natives at such a critical moment, which coincidentally saved Wang Dali and Xiumei from certain danger.
"Wow, Dali's luck is really something—"
"I'm starting to suspect that Dali might be the illegitimate child of the goddess of luck—"
"That's not logical; according to probability theory, Dali couldn't have brushed with death so many times—"
"Amazing! Dali is mighty, long live Xiumei—"
"I've been saying it, Dali and Xiumei are both protagonists, blessed with the luck of cockroaches. How could they possibly die? You guys are overthinking it—"
"Exactly, it's like you're all waiting for Dali to die before you can feel safe—"
"That's right, Dali is now a precious asset to all of humanity. The mysterious veil of Death Island still needs Dali to uncover it. Without Dali, how will humanity continue its research on the evolution of life forms?"
"We support you, Dali—"
"Dali is a national treasure, panda-level figure—"
Wang Dali looked at the messages, feeling warm inside. When had he, from being an unknown person, become a precious asset to all of humanity?
This was even more exciting than becoming a giant panda!
Just as Wang Dali was feeling elated, a native youth quickly caught up from behind.
"Phew!"
An arrow grazed past Wang Dali's cheek, immediately stinging his face.
"That was close; this person is a sharpshooter!"
Wang Dali tensed; it wasn't that the person had missed earlier, but a bee had distracted him, causing Wang Dali to inadvertently move his head, which made the arrow miss.
That's luck for you; with a luck value of 21, exceeding the limits of ordinary people.
Ever since Wang Dali allocated his God points to luck, his luck had been consistently better than ordinary people's. Otherwise, in the perilous Death Island, ordinary people would have died long ago, while Wang Dali was still alive and kicking.
Wang Dali shot back an arrow, and coincidentally, he shot down the arrow shot by the other person.
A warning signal came, and Wang Dali, feeling as if he had divine assistance, quickly dove into the grass with Xiumei.
"Bang! Bang! Bang!"
The giant ape suddenly leaped out of the dense forest, its massive shadow engulfing the native youth. The native youth looked up in terror, and then, there was no more native youth.
Wang Dali covered Xiumei's mouth, hiding in the thick grass. The giant ape looked around, having lost track of Wang Dali and Xiumei.
Countless natives continued to chase from behind, and the giant ape grew furious, roaring as it charged towards the natives.
Wang Dali sighed in relief.
"Oppa, my foot hurts so much, I think I twisted it!" Xiumei grimaced in pain, her forehead beaded with sweat.
"Let me see."
Wang Dali checked and breathed a sigh of relief. "It's just a twist, a bit swollen. It'll be fine after some time. You shouldn't exert yourself now!"
Without further ado, Wang Dali hoisted Xiumei onto his back.
"Oppa, don't worry about me; I can't run. I'll only slow you down!" Xiumei suddenly insisted.
"What nonsense!"
Wang Dali scolded, giving Xiumei's bottom a firm pat. "Didn't I say it before? I won't abandon you, won't give up on you. Are you trying to make me break my promise, lose credibility?"
"But in our current state, we can't possibly escape the giant apes and those natives!"
"No need to worry; I have ways!"
Wang Dali smiled. The more life-and-death crises he experienced on Death Island, the deeper his understanding of himself and the island became.
Of course, his survival skills also improved.
Perhaps he should take it easy for a while, adapt to the intense survival rules of Death Island. Only then could he truly thrive.
"It's getting light; we must leave here quickly to avoid further trouble!"
Wang Dali, with Xiumei on his back, disappeared into the dense forest.
"Oh no, Xiumei twisted her ankle—"
"This is extremely dangerous on Death Island, where danger lurks everywhere—"
"Don't worry; with Dali's cunning luck, everything can turn out for the best. You should believe in Dali's resilience—"
"Ugh, Dali may be resilient, but our Xiumei doesn't have that cockroach-like luck—"
"Who says so? Survivors of a shipwreck all have a lucky aura—"
Wang Dali was speechless, grinning at the camera. "To all viewers, please stop arguing. I, Wang Dali, have indeed had close calls, thanks to my good luck. But Xiumei is still alive and kicking, proving that her luck is equally extraordinary. Let's not doubt that!"
Wang Dali noticed Xiumei hadn't said a word and turned to look at her.
Xiumei was sound asleep.
Well, they had been through quite a lot today. Xiumei had probably not been able to rest properly last night after being kidnapped by the giant apes, still shaken from the experience.
It was truly hard on this sweet little star.
"Alright, Xiumei is safe asleep now, but I still need to get away from the giant apes and the natives!"
Wang Dali took a slight breath, feeling somewhat exhausted from their recent escape, which had consumed quite a bit of his energy.
Now, carrying a heavy person like Xiumei, walking for an extended period would inevitably tire him out.
"The broadcaster has worked hard—"
"Dali is really considerate—"
"Dali, love you to death; you're a knight, a hero—"
"I'll reward Dali with a great sword, mwah mwah—"
"Dali can take a break and rest—"
