ABT Chapter 0013 Finding the Real Culprit

Li Fan, panting heavily, stopped the car and turned on the hazard lights. If one were to describe his current mood, it would be one of lingering fear.

It was too perilous! In his twenty years of life, this was the first time he had experienced such a close encounter with death.

His heart was pounding, and the adrenaline rush he had experienced moments ago had made him exert an extraordinary effort. But what followed was the soreness of his muscles and a deep sense of exhaustion.

Gasping for breath, after calming down for a while, he finally pushed the door open and got out of the car.

The truck continued for more than a hundred meters before stopping. The driver was poking his head out, making a call to report the incident.

Loaded trucks were like this. Due to their large weight and inertia, there was a high chance of overturning when trying to dodge accidents. So, for the sake of their own safety, it was better to just collide.

In the series of perilous moments just now, all the truck driver could do was grip the steering wheel tightly and gently step on the brakes, gritting his teeth.

Seeing Li Fan get out of the car, the truck driver admired him and gave him a thumbs-up.

"Young man, impressive! I've been driving for so many years, and this is the first time I've seen someone drive a van with such style!"

Li Fan waved his hand at him, thinking to himself that this guy had a big heart, still chatting away after such a big incident.

Squinting, he looked at the sports car on the divider. His first thought was, they deserved it.

He saw the Reisfast A3 burst out of the divider, tumbling forward for a long distance before crashing into a tree trunk the size of a washbasin.

The entire front of the car was wrecked, the driver lying on the deployed airbag, their condition unknown. The passenger in the front seat, not wearing a seatbelt, had been thrown out due to inertia.

The three people in the back seat crawled together, their faces covered in blood; even if they weren't dead, they would likely be severely disabled.

"Young man, did you guys plan this drag race?" the truck driver also turned on his hazard lights, got out of the car, and ran over to Li Fan, grinning.

Li Fan looked at him with a gaze of caring for a fool. Have you ever seen anyone drag racing with a van against a sports car?

Damn it!

Li Fan opened the door of the Reisfast, clicking his tongue at the sight—it was truly a sight to behold.

Dongzi still had some consciousness, weakly groaning. Li Fan didn't have much sympathy for him. He rummaged through Dongzi's pockets, took out his phone, and checked the call log.

Xiao Qing, Xiao Xue, Xiao Ying...

Finally, Li Fan found a number with no name, just the code for "BOSS Office."

Li Fan dialed it. It was a landline. After a few busy tones, the call was answered, likely by the receptionist of some company.

"Hello, Baocheng Company, who are you looking for?"

Li Fan remained silent, then hung up the phone and stuffed it back into Dongzi's pocket.

Baocheng, could it be the well-known company in Tiancheng City that specializes in imported cars and used cars?

Right, wasn't it said that the area near the repair shop was going to be planned as a second-hand car trading center?

Heh, found the real culprit.

After silently noting this down, the police arrived.

In fact, they had already received a report, claiming that their car had been robbed at the entrance of the university and fled towards Huan Cheng Road.

They rushed to the scene, but were unable to catch up. While chasing behind, they also organized police forces to intercept.

Originally, Dongzi and the others would have seen the checkpoint another kilometer ahead. But unfortunately, they encountered the truck.

How does that saying go again? The consequences of good and evil deeds follow you like a shadow. Heaven rewards good deeds and punishes evil ones.

Why the hell did they have to chase after us? Am I just an ordinary person? I am...

Before Li Fan could finish venting in his mind, he was taken away by the police uncle.

Well, from this perspective, he really was just an ordinary person.

Ever since getting involved with Xapp, Li Fan felt like he and the police station were becoming more and more acquainted. Could this program have a hidden property that increases the chances of users ending up in the police station by 780% after verifying their identity? You see, in the more than twenty years before this, aside from getting his ID card, Li Fan had never set foot in a police station.

This time, it wasn't just about getting an ID card; it was a big deal. A captain from the Criminal Investigation Division and a deputy captain from the Traffic Police Department sat solemnly opposite Li Fan.

Li Fan had been at the police station for almost three hours now. He had recounted everything from his uncle's injury to his past interactions with Dongzi. Of course, he skipped over the part about Xapp.

Captain Lin Lei of the Criminal Investigation Division, who sat across from him, had been working in criminal investigation for over a decade. Every expression and movement Li Fan made was observed by him.

It could be said that facing such an old detective who had risen step by step from the grassroots, Li Fan, this greenhorn, had absolutely no secrets. Lin Lei could determine whether what he said was true or false with every word.

However, after careful consideration and deliberation, Lin Lei found Li Fan's account to be mostly credible.

The only thing that puzzled him was Li Fan didn't have a driver's license!

How could he drive so skillfully!?

Lin Lei had carefully watched the surveillance footage of the accident with colleagues from the Traffic Police Department. The maneuvers made at the moment of the accident were breathtaking.

The precise drift, the calmness in the face of danger, even professional race car drivers might not be able to do that, right?

You see, Li Fan wasn't driving a sports car. It had been confirmed that it was a van belonging to a construction site!

When bringing the wrecked vehicle back, Lin Lei had deliberately observed the beat-up van. At 80 mph, it looked like it was about to fall apart.

But this damn kid on the other side was driving at 160% of the speed limit! The speed limit was 80 kilometers per hour, which meant he was driving at 130 km/h!

"Li Fan, who taught you how to drive? Do you know how much trouble you've caused for urban security and how much danger you've brought to the people of Tiancheng?"

The colleagues from the Traffic Police Department weren't as patient as Lin Lei; the speeding all the way had driven them crazy.

This isn't America; there aren't police chases and shootouts on the streets all the time. Today's scene made everyone from the leaders to the auxiliary police at the Traffic Police Division sweat bullets.

Thank goodness nothing serious happened!

"Old Liu, let it go. Li Fan, I'll ask you one question. If I were to ask you to do that evasive driving again, could you do it?" Lin Lei interrupted Captain Liu of the Traffic Police Department and asked instead.

Li Fan thought for a moment and said, "It's unlikely. You know, in life or death situations, there are many things that can't be done under normal circumstances."

Lin Lei stared at him for a while and said, "Okay, I believe you. What you've said matches what we've learned. Considering that the other party has a criminal record for multiple people, according to our investigation, we'll tentatively classify your situation as self-defense. But you're suspected of reckless driving and need to go to the Traffic Police Department for education. And my personal advice is, take some time to get a driver's license."
