ABT Chapter 0050

In order to keep things quiet, Lin Lei waited until the company was off work before bringing three completely dismantled off-road vehicles.

The truck parked in the company, and a few workers, under the supervision of the criminal police, unloaded the cars and left.

Lin Lei brushed off the dust from his hands and asked Li Fanyu, "Just leave them here?"

Li Fanyu nodded and observed the three cars.

The doors, seats, trunk, and engine compartment had all been dismantled, leaving only the frames of the cars.

It seemed that the criminal police were really in a hurry, as they had turned over every possible place where drugs might be hidden. Leather-wrapped seats were cut open, all storage compartments were smashed, and even a few airbags were removed.

The noise of the truck engine attracted a group of workers from the X workshop, who were working overtime. Since they had finished their pillar work, they happily approached when they saw another car being delivered.

"Boss, more work?" one of them said. "I'm free now. Shall I help?"

One of Lin Lei's men stepped forward, blocking him, and said coldly, "Stay back."

Li Fanyu didn't mind. These people were very tight-lipped and reliable in their work. He waved to one of them, "Come here, take a look."

After getting Lin Lei's approval with a nod, Li Fanyu explained in a low voice, "The criminal police suspect that the owners of these three cars are involved in drug trafficking and are using the cars to transport drugs. But now, they can't find any evidence, so they asked us to help dismantle the cars and search for anything."

The worker, nicknamed "Pillar," came over, looking quite excited. "What's going on?" he asked eagerly.

Li Fanyu glanced at Lin Lei, who nodded.

With the permission granted, Li Fanyu whispered, "The criminal police suspect that these three cars may have been used to transport drugs. But they couldn't find any evidence. They want us to help dismantle the cars and search for anything suspicious."

Pillar put away his playful demeanor and looked at Lin Lei. Then, he circled around the three cars and returned to Li Fanyu's side.

"These three cars are quite common in the Yunnan border area. I've spent some time there, and I've heard about drug trafficking. Shall I take a look?" he suggested.

Li Fanyu glanced at him unexpectedly. He was becoming more and more curious about Pillar and his group.

But both sides had reached an unspoken agreement: they wouldn't pry into each other's secrets. Li Fanyu didn't ask about their past experiences, and they didn't inquire about the supernatural technology in the X workshop.

Li Fanyu paid them salaries, they did the work. It was as simple as that.

So Pillar's initiative surprised Li Fanyu.

Pillar, who usually wore a playful smile, was exceptionally serious now. He observed the cars carefully, tapping here and there, and feeling around.

After about ten minutes, when he checked the fuel tank, Pillar hesitated for a moment. He grabbed a wrench, knocked a few times, then turned to look at Li Fanyu and Lin Lei, grabbed a tool, and dismantled the fuel tank.

He lifted the tank to a nearby bush, poured out all the gasoline, then went back to the workshop to get a hacksaw.

With a series of buzzing sawing sounds, Pillar cut the fuel tank in half.

He leaned over to observe the tank, reached in, and slowly pulled something out.

It was a bottle wrapped in several layers of plastic wrap, greasy on the outside, making it impossible to see what was inside.

But seeing this, Lin Lei and his colleagues were extremely excited!

A detective stepped forward and took the bottle, tearing open the plastic wrap and unscrewing the cap. He pulled out a ballpoint pen from his pocket and inserted it inside. When he pulled it out again, the pen was covered in white powder.

"Wow! Captain, we found it!" exclaimed the detective who had previously blocked Pillar, suddenly enlightened. "No wonder even the police dogs couldn't find it. They hid it in the fuel tank! The smell of gasoline covered up the white powder, affecting the dogs' sense of smell."

Li Fanyu looked at him with an expression of caring for a fool. "Even if there's no gasoline in the tank, it's sealed inside the car! Where do you expect the police dogs to sniff? The exhaust pipe?"

Lin Lei took the bottle, dipped his finger inside to collect some powder, and grinned with joy.

"Quick! Saw open the fuel tanks of those other two cars!" he excitedly ordered his subordinates.

Soon, two more bottles were retrieved, both large Coke bottles commonly found on the market. They were filled to the brim with drugs, a total of fifteen kilograms!

Li Fanyu glanced deeply at Pillar, who had returned to his playful demeanor. "These bastards modified the fuel tanks. First, they opened the tanks, sealed the drugs inside, and then welded them shut."

Lin Lei, ignoring the oil stains on the bottles, screwed the caps back on and wrapped them in clothing. He walked over and shook Pillar's hand.

"Thank you so much!"

Pillar smiled and was about to make a joke. But suddenly, as if remembering something, his expression darkened, and he said sadly, "It's nothing. Thank our boss instead." With that, he turned and went back to the workshop.

Lin Lei looked puzzled as he watched him leave, shaking his head, then turned to thank Li Fanyu again.

Li Fanyu waved his hand and said, "It's not over yet."

"What do you mean?" Lin Lei asked.

Li Fanyu pointed at the underside of the car. "Take out the driveshaft. There's more inside."

Two detectives hesitated but bent down to the underside of the car and awkwardly removed the driveshaft. They brought it to Li Fanyu.

Li Fanyu directed them to use a grinding wheel to cut open the driveshaft. It was supposed to be made of high-strength steel, but it turned out to be hollow inside!

He walked over, lifted one end, and shook it, causing more than ten small packages to fall out.

The detectives quickly picked them up, opened them, and found heroin inside!

Lin Lei's jaw dropped, and he grabbed Li Fanyu's shoulder. "How did you know? You're amazing!"

The young detective beside him was puzzled. "There's no gasoline here either? How did the police dogs miss it?" He glanced at the driveshaft, then gave Li Fanyu a thumbs-up. "You're incredible! You're even more perceptive than the police dogs!"

Li Fanyu glared at him fiercely. Why do I dislike hearing that so much!

He quickly explained, "This car is four-wheel drive, but the rear driveshaft isn't connected. Do I need to explain more? There's definitely a problem!"

Lin Lei and the others were completely convinced, expressing their gratitude to Li Fanyu and promising to treat him to a meal.

Li Fanyu declined the invitation, thinking that dining with a bunch of gentlemen wasn't his style. If there were some policewomen, it might be different.

What he was more interested in, though, was Lin Lei's big bait.

So he rubbed his hands together and grinned at Lin Lei. "Lin, about the police department changing cars... when do you think you can make it happen?"

Lin Lei laughed heartily, pointing at his nose. "You little money lover! Don't worry, I'll report to the bureau right away and make sure we secure this deal for you!"
