FWS Chapter 004 Fitness Effect Card

Four hours later, Hou Muyun finished coding a total of eleven chapters, totaling over 35,000 words! Including the time for eating takeout, interruptions, and breaks, if deducted, the speed would definitely exceed ten thousand characters per hour!

After checking and revising, around 4:30 in the afternoon, he went online and uploaded all eleven chapters at once.

Usually, when there's a sudden outbreak of ten or more chapters, even authors who don't usually post single chapters would do so, seeking recommendation votes and monthly tickets. Hou Muyun also wanted to do this, but considering that he had already posted once at noon today, he resisted the urge. However, he still added parentheses after the chapter title, writing "Chapter Eleven!" inside, and in the "Author's Words" at the end of the chapter, he cheekily wrote: "Being a man of continuous outbreaks."

After refreshing the page, he saw many new donations. Earlier, he had seen 27 donations today, but now it had increased to 41, meaning there were 14 new ones in the past four hours, and among them, three were donations of ten thousand starting coins.

Similarly, there were increases in monthly tickets and recommendations.

The comments section became much livelier than before!

After scrolling down and reading them, Hou Muyun couldn't stop smiling.

With the addition of the inspiration attribute and the plot conceived using the Inspiration Effect Card, it was obviously much better than before. Coupled with the outbreak of updates like this, although the surge in donations was beyond Hou Muyun's expectations, it was also within reason.

In online novels, or any literary work for that matter, the most fundamental thing is whether the story is good. Otherwise, no matter how extraordinary your writing skills and imagination are, it's ultimately superficial. Web novels generally have another very important condition, which is the quantity of updates. To some extent, the quantity of updates determines the performance of a book. Of course, there are exceptions, such as some big shots who have a large number of loyal fans even if they update irregularly or even stop updating altogether.

Hou Muyun naturally felt very happy about these changes. For someone who got into online novels out of interest and made a living from it, being able to write stories they wanted and make readers like them was undoubtedly the greatest happiness. Of course, happiness belongs to the spiritual level of the superstructure, while the material foundation determines the superstructure, so one cannot ignore the manuscript fee.

Standing up and stretching, looking at the time, Hou Muyun thought for a moment, prepared to rest for a while, have dinner, and then continue typing. But not long after, his phone rang.

Incoming call, Fei Ning.

"I'm downstairs at your place."

"Huh?"

"Hurry up and put on your workout clothes and come down."

"Huh?"

"We're going to the gym."

"Now?"

"Otherwise, do you want to die first? I know you've been working hard recently, but even if you're working hard, you need to be tough enough. Wait for you for ten minutes, hurry up."

"Oh."

Hanging up the phone, Hou Muyun turned off the computer, quickly put on his workout clothes, grabbed his gym bag, and went downstairs. Seeing the Mondeo parked downstairs, he opened the back seat, threw the bag in, and sat in the passenger seat. As he fastened his seatbelt, he said, "It's rare, you actually want to go to the gym today."

"I've been eating like a pig recently, if I don't go, I won't be able to see my own little brother when I take a shower."

Fei Ning drove, glanced at Hou Muyun sideways, and said, "I can go by myself, but you're accompanying me. It's not busy at the board game bar lately. I'll come to pick you up every afternoon at this time. Don't whine, at most two hours a day, including meals, it won't delay you much. Sharpening the knife won't delay the chopping of firewood. Besides, your complexion is terrible. If you continue to be so dull, you'll collapse first."

Fei Ning is actually Lin Ning, the owner of the board game bar that Hou Muyun often frequents. Speaking of which, Lin Ning can be considered as a senior to Hou Muyun; they attended the same high school. Hou Muyun attended a private high school, and he was one of the partially subsidized students. Fei Ning was from the first batch and is eight years older than Hou Muyun. However, despite his nickname, Fei Ning is not really fat; he's just a bit chubby, standing at around 1.7 meters tall and weighing over 150 kilograms.

Six months ago, Hou Muyun and Fei Ning got gym memberships at a fitness center in Rui City. Initially, they were quite diligent in going, but after about two weeks, they started slacking off, going only three days a week. The problem was compounded by their love for eating, especially indulging after workouts. Despite sporadic gym visits over three months, instead of losing weight, they both gained some. Fei Ning smoothly crossed the 150 kg mark, while Hou Muyun reached 170 kg. However, Hou Muyun's height of 1.83 meters somewhat balanced out his appearance.

In the past couple of months, Hou Muyun hadn't been to the gym due to family matters, and Fei Ning, on his own, became even lazier. While Hou Muyun slimmed down a bit, Fei Ning seemed to be catching up.

Hou Muyun realized his declining fitness and the strain on his spine and waist from sitting for extended periods due to his three-year stint as a writer. He had initially gotten the gym membership as a precaution against common occupational hazards for writers and to regain his former physique. He even joked about becoming a muscular writer. Unfortunately, he hadn't made much progress, especially after the family issues arose, diverting his attention from the gym.

Now with improved typing speed and more inspiration, Hou Muyun felt a bit more relaxed, with slightly more time on his hands. Fei Ning's mention of hitting the gym didn't meet any objections; he realized the importance of maintaining his health. Plus, he had two "fitness effect cards" that needed to be used.

They soon arrived at the Ruijia Fitness Club. After swiping their cards and changing clothes, Hou Muyun habitually started with a ten-minute jog followed by ten minutes of brisk running, then moved on to the gym equipment, totaling about an hour. After nearly two months of inactivity, he didn't want to overexert himself.

When activating the fitness effect card, Hou Muyun's mind was flooded with scientific methods and techniques for exercising, possibly an additional effect of the card. One notable difference was feeling incredibly hungry after workouts.

Half an hour later, after showering, Hou Muyun and Fei Ning appeared at a steakhouse near the gym, where Hou Muyun devoured three steaks and several pastries along with three drinks.

Fei Ning stared in amazement, "Do you really need to push yourself this hard? Are you a glutton reincarnated?"

When it came time to pay, Hou Muyun insisted on covering the bill, which left Fei Ning a bit displeased. "I said I would treat today."

"I'm happy today, so I must treat you."

Understanding Fei Ning's annoyance, Hou Muyun chuckled, "Let me tell you some good news; today, the donations for my book surpassed 100,000."

"Really?"

Fei Ning's eyes lit up. He knew that Hou Muyun wrote novels, and although he didn't actively follow them, he was aware of the significance of surpassing 100,000 donations. "I checked it out before; your updates last month were insane. Looks like it's paying off. Keep it up! You've said before that writing web novels, except for a few exceptionally talented folks, is all about perseverance. But, back to the point, don't neglect your workouts! Health is everything, especially now that you're achieving success; you can't afford to let your health decline!"

Hou Muyun grinned, not offering much explanation.

After dropping Hou Muyun off at his place, Fei Ning returned to the bar. Since it wasn't peak season, there weren't many customers, so he relaxed at the front desk, reading novels on his phone. After a while, he opened Hou Muyun's novel on the computer to check the progress. Website pages were more convenient for reading than mobile versions. Then, he froze in disbelief!
