UDMD Chapter 5: Poor People Should Mind Their Own Business
Using the money Fei Ge gave him, Li Xiao bought a bunch of medicinal herbs and concocted medicine for his father to take. Within a week, his father's health was completely restored, and he was even more spirited than before he fell ill.
As for the leftover hundred thousand from buying medicine, Li Xiao saved it all. For him, there were still many places where money could be put to good use.
Regarding Mo Lingxuan, Li Xiao treated their encounter as a chance meeting, with no further ties in the future.
Although women of her caliber were indeed very attractive, relationships between men and women should be left to fate. Forcing things too much would only backfire.
Unexpectedly, a week later, he received a call from her.
"Do you still remember me? You said that if I ever had any trouble, you would help me."
The girl's voice over the phone was clear and lively, quite charming.
Li Xiao was momentarily taken aback, nodding, "I promised to help, so naturally I will. What trouble do you have?"
"Well..." Mo Lingxuan's tone carried a hint of shyness, "Why don't you come out first, and I'll explain everything in detail when we meet? I'm waiting for you at the Time Coffee Shop in Longsheng Square. Oh, and dress handsomely!"
After hanging up the phone, Li Xiao was a bit puzzled. Why did he need to dress handsomely if she needed his help?
Women's train of thought was indeed difficult to understand.
An hour later, Li Xiao arrived at the appointed Time Coffee Shop.
"Over here!" Mo Lingxuan waved to him from afar.
Li Xiao followed the sound of her voice and couldn't help but be dazzled when he saw her.
Mo Lingxuan was wearing a beautifully tailored white dress that hugged her curves, with the hem ending just at her thighs, revealing her slender and smooth legs. Her face was devoid of makeup, yet she outshone the surrounding women by a thousandfold. Her long hair reached her waist, the slightly curled ends swaying gently in the wind, exuding an aura of nobility and elegance.
As she walked over, she attracted the fiery gazes of countless men. When she stopped in front of Li Xiao, the looks those men gave him were filled with envy and jealousy.
Feeling the unfriendly glances around him, Li Xiao couldn't help but smirk lazily and asked, "What's the matter?"
"Let's sit down and talk."
Mo Lingxuan glanced at Li Xiao with a hint of frustration. She had deliberately dressed up before leaving home, thinking she looked pretty good, but why was there no reaction from Li Xiao at all?
"It's like this, I'm about to graduate from high school, and tonight the school is holding a graduation party. They require each person to bring a partner."
Sighing, Mo Lingxuan continued, "Many boys have invited me, but I don't like any of them, so I'm hoping you can come and pretend to be my partner, to fend off those annoying pests."
"I see."
Li Xiao nodded. For someone as stunning as Mo Lingxuan, it was normal for many boys to pursue her. Moreover, she had helped Qian'er in a moment of danger, so he couldn't refuse this small favor. "Sure, I'll do it."
"Really? Thank you so much. I'll treat you to coffee!"
Mo Lingxuan appeared very happy.
"I can't let a beautiful woman like you pay for coffee."
A somewhat flattering voice interrupted, and a man in his late twenties or early thirties, with a high, sharp nose and a pair of gold-rimmed glasses, appeared next to Mo Lingxuan.
"Waiter, two cups of top-quality black coffee," he took out a black card and waved it in front of them.
Even though Li Xiao had just returned to city life, he knew that only important clients of banks could obtain a black card. Holding a black card was a symbol of status and wealth in itself.
The man deliberately flaunted his black card to show off.
"Childish."
Li Xiao sneered lightly, not bothering to give this man another glance.
"What did you say?" The man's face darkened when he heard Li Xiao's mockery. "Do you know what this card represents? Do you have one?"
Li Xiao gave him a cold look, not bothering to acknowledge the man.
"I'm sorry, I can't stomach black coffee."
Mo Lingxuan smiled faintly at the man with glasses, her tone slightly chilly.
"That's okay, I can buy all the coffee in this shop. Whatever you like, I'll get it for you."
Mo Lingxuan smiled casually, captivating men with her charm, making them even more attentive.
Mo Lingxuan frowned slightly, "It's okay, it's too extravagant."
"How could it be? Spending some money to have coffee with a beauty like you is nothing."
The bespectacled man rubbed his hands excitedly and continued, "Let me introduce myself, I'm Zhou Zhuang, graduated from the University of Oxford Medical School last year with a PhD, currently serving as the deputy chief physician at the First Municipal Hospital. Miss, may I ask for your name?"
Li Xiao listened and couldn't help but feel speechless. What a low-level way of showing off.
"My surname is Mo," Mo Lingxuan replied coolly rather than politely.
"Miss Mo, I wonder if you're free tonight. How about going out for dinner together?"
Zhou Zhuang's gaze shifted from Mo Lingxuan's face to her long legs, his eyes filled with lust.
"I'm sorry, she has plans tonight."
Before Mo Lingxuan could speak, Li Xiao interjected in a nonchalant tone.
"What are you, to have a say?" Zhou Zhuang glanced at him, dressed in a white T-shirt, jeans, and canvas shoes of unknown brand, looking like he's straight from a flea market. "Hehe, Miss Mo, your driver doesn't seem to know his place."
Mo Lingxuan was momentarily stunned, glanced at Li Xiao, and said, "You misunderstood, he's Li Xiao, my friend."
"Friend?" Zhou Zhuang arrogantly laughed, "Forgive me for being frank, this poor guy in flea market clothes is not worthy of being Miss Mo's friend!"
Mo Lingxuan's eyebrows furrowed slightly, a hint of disgust flashing in her beautiful eyes. "Dr. Zhou, please respect my friend."
"Sir, here's your coffee."
At this moment, the waitress brought the coffee, but accidentally spilled a few drops on Zhou Zhuang's white suit.
"Damn it, are you blind? This suit of mine is Armani, bought for thirty thousand!" Zhou Zhuang cursed angrily, about to strike the poor waitress.
But his hand stopped abruptly in mid-air.
"Dr. Zhou, forgive others, she didn't do it on purpose."
Li Xiao intercepted his hand unexpectedly, stopping him from hitting the waitress.
"What are you trying to do, daring to stop me? Wasn't your mother there to teach you that poor people should mind their own business?" Zhou Zhuang said contemptuously.
Li Xiao's eyebrows furrowed, his gaze turning icy. "No one is allowed to insult my mother. Take back your words."
"I... ah!" With a cry of pain, Zhou Zhuang winced as Li Xiao twisted his wrist slightly. "It hurts! Let go!"
"It'll break! It'll break! Let go!" Zhou Zhuang paled in pain, unable to break free no matter how hard he struggled.
"Take back what you said!"
Li Xiao's voice was stern, colder than before.
"I was wrong! My mother didn't teach me, and I interfered too much!" Zhou Zhuang finally relented, crying out in pain, completely devoid of the arrogance he had just exhibited.
"Get lost!"
Li Xiao released him, shouting angrily.
"You little punk, this isn't over between us!" Zhou Zhuang left with an uncontrollable rage, clutching his wrist.
"Seeing your moves just now, do you know kung fu?" Mo Lingxuan looked at Li Xiao curiously, her eyes filled with a playful smile, making her even more charming.
Li Xiao rubbed his nose, looking a bit embarrassed. "Hehe, it's nothing, just learned casually. It's about time, let's go."
