Chapter 10: Life-and-Death Struggle in the Darkness!
Wang Dali was evidently a master at setting the atmosphere.
With just a few words, viewers of the livestream felt an even more eerie atmosphere.
Just imagine, a pitch-black cave entrance, seemingly harboring a beast ready to devour. For humans, the unknown is the most terrifying.
"Anchor, don't go in—"
"Wang Dali, don't act recklessly, you'll get us into trouble, Xiumei—"
"So damn scared, why not throw a stone in first to scout the way? The anchor is really dumb—"
Wang Dali saw this comment from a viewer and his eyes lit up.
Damn, he really was foolish. Wasn't there a saying about throwing a stone to scout the way?
"Plop, plop!"
A stone flew past Wang Dali's side and into the cave, making a sound.
Wang Dali was surprised, turning to see that it was Xiumei who threw the stone!
Damn, even the intelligence of the nation's first love surpasses mine. How embarrassing! I, Wang Dali, was still boasting and vowing to protect Xiumei, yet it seems I'm not cautious enough.
"Our Xiumei is clever—"
"The anchor has a wooden head—"
"Big D, I scorn you. Your IQ is way lower than Xiumei's—"
"Wang Dali, hurry up and kneel to worship Xiumei's toes. Remember, she saved your life—"
Wang Dali looked at the flood of comments and smiled wryly.
"Dear viewers, I admit, it was my mistake. It turns out that our Xiumei is smarter than me. But now, I'm really going in. I estimate there's not much danger inside!"
Wang Dali took a deep breath and cautiously entered the cave with his spear.
Seemingly accustomed to the darkness, Wang Dali could see a pile of embers in the cave, nearly extinguished.
By the faint glow of the embers, signs of indigenous habitation could be seen in the cave.
Suddenly, Wang Dali noticed a dark shadow in the corner, startling him. Instinctively, he turned to look.
In the darkness, a pair of beast-like eyes stared back at him!
"It's a person!"
Wang Dali immediately discerned, but even so, he was greatly startled.
"Goo goo goo, wawa wawa"
The shadow lunged out, roaring like a wild beast. Its hands groped blindly, knocking Wang Dali down.
The spear in Wang Dali's hand was knocked away.
Wang Dali was terrified, his hair standing on end. With the dim light, he could finally see clearly: it was an old indigenous woman, dark-skinned, with gray, dirty hair, and teeth that were black and rotten, extremely ugly and terrifying, almost no different from a savage.
"What's wrong?" Xiumei panicked; she couldn't see what was happening clearly.
"Don't come in!"
Wang Dali roared lowly, grabbing the terrifying old indigenous woman and grappling with her.
Damn it!
The old indigenous woman was strong and wild, grabbing and even biting like a wild beast.
The comments flooded in again.
"Ah, so scary!"
"I'm terrified!"
"My heart is about to give out!"
"Damn, this is like a horror movie!"
"Anchor, fight back quickly, don't let her eat you!"
Wang Dali spun around anxiously. Damn it, just now I was exhausted, and now, my strength is no match for an old indigenous woman?
The old indigenous woman suddenly bit down like a vampire.
"Damn it!"
Wang Dali leaned to the side, avoiding her teeth, and grabbed the terrifying woman's head, rolling and attempting to shake her off.
"Bang, bang, bang!"
The sound of things falling in the cave rang out, and the embers were knocked over. The nearly extinguished flames suddenly flared up, momentarily illuminating the scene in the cave.
Wang Dali was pinned down by the old indigenous woman, her hands around his neck, his face turning red!
Viewers watching the livestream were all nervous, terrified, and breathless.
"Fuck, fuck, fuck!" In Europe, a young man jumped nervously, smashing his gaming keyboard to pieces.
The computer instantly crashed, and with a poof, the screen went blank.
"Fuck, what am I fucking doing!" The young man hugged his head, wailing. At a critical moment, he actually smashed his computer.
Not being able to see the crucial livestream, the young man felt like his whole world was collapsing!
Everyone was stunned.
The flood of comments paused for 2 seconds. It seemed that next, Wang Dali would be strangled to death, a scene they didn't want to see, a nightmare.
Such a long two seconds, then the flood of comments started rolling again frantically.
"Come on, don't die, what will happen to Xiumei if you die—"
"Dali, hold on—"
"Oh, God, save him—"
Wang Dali's face was turning red, his vision starting to blur, a sign that his brain was beginning to lack oxygen.
Damn, is this the end for me?
I'm finished, what about Xiumei?
No, I can't die. How can I leave Xiumei alone to face this terrifying situation?
Wang Dali shouted inwardly.
Thump!
A groan sounded.
The old indigenous woman widened her eyes, then weakly collapsed.
Wang Dali pushed her aside, and she rolled to the side, motionless.
Only Xiumei stood there, holding a stone, with faint traces of blood on it. She stood there, pale-faced, stunned, murmuring incessantly:
"I killed someone, I killed someone."
Xiumei actually saved me. She smashed the old indigenous woman's head with a stone? Wang Dali was stunned.
But seeing Xiumei's frightened expression, Wang Dali quickly grabbed her slender shoulders and loudly said, "Xiumei, calm down. You didn't kill anyone; she just fainted!"
Xiumei stood there dumbfounded, not coming back to her senses.
"Not good, she's in a trance!" Wang Dali suddenly tightened his grip. Falling into a trance was no joke; if not handled properly, one could go mad.
