Chapter 9: Indigenous Village!
Wang Dali was indeed scared out of his wits.
Seeing the giant snake retreat into the sea filled him with a sense of relief, as if he had narrowly escaped a disaster.
He had almost depleted his own strength just now, with adrenaline surging through his body. Wang Dali felt utterly exhausted.
But now was not the time to relax.
The cliff wall was pitch black, with only the sound of the raging storm to be heard.
Behind the towering stone wall, rows of stone houses and caves could faintly be seen, all shrouded in darkness.
Xiumei was greatly astonished by what she saw.
Wang Dali felt it necessary to speak up, to garner some praise and applause from the audience.
"Friends, are you scared? Because I, Wang Dali, am terrified!"
Wang Dali spoke frankly, continuing to engage.
"It was truly perilous just now. Xiumei and I narrowly escaped death. I feel completely drained of strength now, my body limp. This means I won't be able to deal with the potential dangers lurking in the darkness. It's very, very dangerous for us, so I must quickly find a secluded place to rest. Yes, we must rest, otherwise, we'll be in great danger!"
Messages and comments flooded his mind like a waterfall.
"Anchor, well done!"
"I was terrified just now!"
"Damn, when I heard the roar of the snake, my mind went blank—"
"I was scared out of my wits. I thought the anchor and Miss Xiumei were about to be eaten by the snake!"
"I closed my eyes and dared not look. How did the anchor and Miss Xiumei evade the snake's jaws?"
"+1, I need to watch the replay!"
"Me too, but I heard the official recordings require payment—"
"Guess I'll have to rely on fans' recordings—"
"It seems the clarity of the fan recordings isn't as good as the official ones. You need 8K or 4K resolution for a top-notch viewing experience—"
Wang Dali watched as the comments and messages flooded his mind, his face twitching.
Damn, this is live broadcasting! Having recordings afterward is already good enough, shouldn't they charge for official recordings? If they don't charge, everyone will just record it themselves, then what's the point of live broadcasting?
Speaking of which, this alien super technology is really something. Even official recordings require payment. That's quite a rip-off. Well, could it be that the clarity of transcoded recordings has been restricted by alien technology?
Hahaha, this godly system is quite the cunning merchant! But, I love it!
"Dali oppa, what's this glowing sphere? Are you talking to it?" Xiumei asked curiously, looking at the floating orb and attempting to touch it, only to find her hand passing through.
"This is a super camera connected to the global internet. I'm using it to livestream to the world!" Wang Dali explained.
"Can we communicate with the outside world through it? Can we get rescue? I'm so scared," Xiumei said excitedly.
Wang Dali sighed and shook his head. "I can see messages from viewers in my mind, but rescue teams probably won't find us. They won't even find this mysterious island beneath our feet."
"Why is that?" Xiumei asked, her voice filled with sadness.
"This place is filled with mysteries. It's an unknown area. If we want to survive, we must rely on ourselves. But with me here, you don't have to worry. No matter how difficult it is, I'll make sure to bring you back to the civilized world safely!"
Wang Dali reassured her.
"I believe in you, oppa!" Xiumei said.
"Okay," Wang Dali felt a bit moved. Being trusted by the girl he liked was an honor, a satisfaction, an unparalleled happiness.
"Oppa, people actually live here?" Xiumei asked.
"Yes, there are indigenous people here. They are very fierce. Look—"
Wang Dali pointed to the left.
Xiumei looked over and, illuminated by a flash of lightning, she could see rows of spears standing upright, with skulls faintly visible atop them—human skulls and animal skulls alike.
The sight was chilling on this stormy night.
"Ah!" Xiumei exclaimed in shock!
Wang Dali was prepared and quickly covered Xiumei's mouth.
"Don't make a sound. The indigenous people here are very dangerous. Let's quietly enter the village, and don't provoke them with any gunfire!" Wang Dali gestured for silence, taking Xiumei's hand and hurrying through the stone wall into the tribe.
Being a girl, Xiumei was scared, especially seeing the eerie village. She couldn't help but feel afraid, tightly gripping Wang Dali's hand as if it was the only source of safety for her.
In the darkness, Wang Dali didn't forget to turn around and whisper, "Dear viewers!"
Wang Dali lowered his voice, nervous. "No pain, no gain. I'm about to go in. It's pitch black inside, and I have no idea what awaits me. God help me, I hope I won't encounter a giant snake, or a wild man, or a ferocious beast!"
