ABT ## Chapter 139: A Perfect Show-off

RaceFast’s setup was nothing short of meticulous. Given that this event was a marketing showcase affecting the company's honor and the introduction of a new model, they prepared extremely thoroughly.

The company had professionally tuned a V12 over the past two days. RaceFast, with its own F1 team, even brought in their test driver, Jose, to China specifically for this race.

The incoming truck carried a V12 with a striking paint job, followed by three business cars filled with accompanying staff. In the last Mercedes E-Class AMG, Godfrey and Jose sat comfortably in the back seat.

"Jose, I heard the opponent is an outstanding karting driver with a national A-level license from China."

"Oh, dear Mr. Godfrey, I obtained that license when I was ten. My latest license is an FIA Super License. They say there are only about fifty in the world."

The two glanced at each other and burst into laughter.

As the staff hurriedly unloaded the V12 from the truck, Jose stepped out and walked over, smirking at the lone Li Fanyu nearby.

A karting driver? Too basic. If not for the generous reward and the chance to gain favor with his employer, Jose wouldn't have lowered himself to come to China.

I heard this yellow-skinned kid even raced against that old guy Alonso in karting? The car beside him looks like a giant go-kart. Haha, how amusing.

Li Fanyu was also sizing up the handsome Spaniard. Long-term engagement in racing meant Jose had exceptionally developed neck muscles, a byproduct of constantly combating lateral acceleration forces, giving him a formidable appearance. With the two tattoos on his neck, he looked truly intimidating.

However, Li Fanyu wasn’t intimidated at all.

Hmph, just a test driver. Even if Alonso is past his prime, he's still better than you.

Moreover, my car has been modified, you know.

As the host, Wang Dazui, who was fluent in English, also played the role of the race host aside from managing the filming. Seeing both sides ready, he gathered the drivers and their teams.

"Alright, the race rules are as follows: the race is limited to this runway, testing the acceleration of both cars. You already know this. We will install speed testers on both cars to measure your 0-100 km/h performance. When either car exceeds 100 km/h, we’ll receive the information, and the race ends. OK?"

Wang Dazui solemnly explained in English.

"Understood!"

"OK!"

Li Fanyu and Jose nodded in unison, though Li Fanyu didn’t fully understand. But since he set the rules, he couldn’t show his lack of English proficiency!

The two shook hands lightly and got into their respective cars. After the instruments were installed, they began to warm up their engines. Once they were ready, Wang Dazui moved to the center of the runway.

Holding a starter pistol amidst the roaring engines, he began the countdown loudly.

"Five!"

"Four!"

"Three!"

"Two!"

"One!"

"Bang!!!"

With a sharp crack from the starter pistol, both cars accelerated almost simultaneously, and a screech of tires filled the air.

The white and orange X-power and the silver and blue V12 raced neck and neck, like arrows shot from a bow, down the runway.

Focused on driving, Jose didn’t notice that an Airbus A320 on the adjacent runway also began to accelerate.

Thus, the high-speed cameras at the starting line captured a unique scene.

In the video, the two sports cars and an airplane started simultaneously. The white and orange car in the middle, seemingly rocket-propelled, quickly pulled ahead of the plane and the silver and blue V12, leading the race decisively.

From the camera's perspective, the three fast-moving objects formed a V-shape, with the X-power as the lead.

Jose was nearly losing his mind.

"God! What kind of crazy speed is that?" he cursed.

As a professional F1 test driver on the verge of becoming a full-fledged racer, Jose's driving remained steady, but he knew he had already lost the race.

Now, his only hope was to achieve the best possible 0-100 km/h time to salvage some of his company’s dignity.

It’s not that the country is incompetent, but that **** is too cunning! If Jose had watched TV shows about the Liberation War, this phrase would likely come to mind.

"That car's 0-100 km/h time is definitely within 3.5 seconds! God, is that an F1 engine?!"

Jose, highly experienced with cars, could roughly estimate the speed with just his eyes.

3.5 seconds! This isn't a bad time even among supercars.

For reference, the fastest F1 cars have a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 2.3-2.5 seconds. (F1 cars are actually more impressive with their braking ability, going from 0-200 km/h and then braking back to 0 in just seven seconds.)

This is incredible! Unbelievable! Isn't China supposed to be incapable of producing a single car?

No matter how shocked Jose was, Li Fanyu was feeling elated.

Watching the Airbus A320 take off, Li Fanyu executed a perfect drift to end the race.

Hmm, if I keep going, I'll lose to the plane. I need to maintain a perfect victory image, hehe.

Seeing the lead car suddenly turn, Jose understood the race was over. Checking his speedometer, which showed 220 km/h, he gradually slowed down and stopped beside Li Fanyu.

"Hey! What the f**k?!" Jose was clearly angry and tried to pick a fight, taking advantage of Li Fanyu’s sudden stop.

Li Fanyu ignored him, took off his helmet, and gestured to Wang Dazui in the distance.

Wang Dazui gave a big thumbs-up, "Perfect!"

Seeing this, Li Fanyu relaxed. Looking at the furious Jose, he shrugged, "Too bad, you were just a background character."

Jose, seeing Li Fanyu’s smile, felt as if he had punched cotton, sighed, and threw his helmet to the ground.

He came with high spirits but left crestfallen. RaceFast had really lost face this time.

Judging by the numbers, the V12's performance was commendable. Jose managed a 4.1-second run with the tuned car, a very good result.

But that annoying guy ran 3.47 seconds! And he pulled a stunt by using a plane as a backdrop!

Airplanes aren't quick on the runway, and their weight affects their initial acceleration.

But the general public doesn’t know that. From a visual standpoint, the X-power was incredibly impressive, stealing the spotlight.

Today, the runway, the plane, the entire RaceFast team, and even himself were all just background for that car.

Damn it! Shit!

Godfrey’s face was cold as he realized he had been thoroughly outwitted.

How does that Chinese saying go? "The hunter will eventually become the hunted."

Yes, it’s quite apt.
